 Fresh blood needed!

Cuppa and Cake at the Café Where England Began

Kingston College students have recently opened a café in the town’s market place and we would like to invite cornerHOUSE regulars, to enjoy a special promotional offer to celebrate the launch.

During June, if you quote this special code – KC2 – you will be entitled to a Hot Drink and Cake for just £2.

The Café Where England Began is situated in the town’s most historic building, the 900-year-old All Saints Church.

The café is a joint venture between the church and the college and is run by students as a social enterprise initiative. They not only cook all the food (which is delicious) they also run the café and serve customers.

The eaterie got its name because King Athelstan, viewed by historians as the first king of England, was crowned in the town. In fact he was one of seven Saxon kings whose coronations took place in Kingston.

The 12th century church has a fascinating exhibition on Kingston’s special place in history that you can view while you are enjoying your cuppa and cake.

As well as a Hot Drink and Cake for just £2, there are also delicious lunchtime options available.

Or see college principal Peter Mayhew-Smith and rector Rev Jonathan Wilkes discussing their hopes for the new venture at The Café Where England Began on YouTube.

If you would like to take advantage of the £2 Hot Drink and Cake promotion at The Café Where England Began at All Saints Church in the Market Place, Kingston, just give staff at the till your reference KC2. Our special offer runs on Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 3.30pm, and can be used on multiple occasions in June.

You are invited to a wedding at the cornerHOUSE on Sunday 31st May.

Not a proper one of course, but one that will be filmed by the Green Theatre Company for use in their upcoming production of Betrayal (http://www.thech.org/…/green-theatre-company-present-betra…/). Extras are needed for the scene, which will be filmed between 11am and midday (or possibly a little later).

No experience or confetti necessary, and all ages welcomed. The only things you need are to be available for the full one and a bit hours, and to look like you’re dressed for a wedding, but aren’t the bride or groom! (so just need to look smart enough to be invited to a wedding rather than look like you’re sleeping off a hangover in a church!)

If you are interested please contact Dan Clinton on danieljclinton84@gmail.com / 07833 105246
