Helen Bauer and Micky Overman: Sweet Things

In association with CKP and IAM

Sweet Things is an hour of comedy by two twentysomethings who are anything but. Helen is a super energetic over-sharer, where Micky is disarmingly honest, with a thinly-veiled layer of darkness underneath.

Join them as they each take you on a unique journey through their lives, love and a whole host of feelings.

Helen honed her comedy skills, performing in English in Berlin. You can now find Helen’s creative writing, charming attitude on stage and special love of pop music all over the UK. Helen was runner up in the Max Turner Prize 2017, a Semi Finalist in So You Think You’re Funny 2016 and Amused Moose National New Comic Award 2017 and Regional Finalist in Funny Women 2016. As heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra. Helen is also a writer and performer for The Hook.

Micky is one of the most promising and exciting acts to hit the circuit in years. A bedrock of surgically sharp writing combined with a cool and confident delivery make her an exceptional comedian. Her material moves quickly from devastating honesty, to brutal whimsy, to on-point social observations. She already has the aura of a successful comic well beyond her years. In 2016 she was asked to perform at the prestigious Just For Laughs New Faces showcase. Micky was a finalist in the Funny Women competition as well as a runner-up in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year final.

Steve Bennet at Chortle described her as having: “strong funny material…she has a keen comic mind”

Harriet Braine: Total Eclipse of the Art

“If you like musical comedy with a twist Harriet will have you howling” Metro

The 2016 Funny Women Stage Award winner and So You Think You’re Funny? finalist of the same year, Harriet Braine, believes that art history delivered through the medium of parody song is the only possible remedy for the broken hearts and minds of a broken world.

Musings upon current politics and philosophy, along with insights into her utterly fascinating personal life, Harriet’s much admired art history songs are tied together into a hilarious and educational debut hour, taking you on a journey through time and the art world with her to Paris, Mexico City, New York, Barcelona and…Croydon.

“the best cornet/trumpet impression this side of Earl Okin” Bruce Dessau

As seen on BBC 100 Women Season, and one of Metro’s 9 hilarious women to look out for in 2017, Harriet has been published in Chortle, interviewed for Standard Issue magazine, and was named Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards 2016 with only a handful of gigs under her belt. She has performed at such diverse venues as Up the Creek comedy club, the Southbank Udderbelly and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She regularly headlines at some of London’s best comedy and cabaret nights, and 2017 marks her full Edinburgh Fringe solo hour debut.

“a song from Harriet Braine perfectly articulated our feelings about Tracey Emin: who knew we needed one?” The Latest, Brighton

“Informative and entertaining” Steve Bennett, Chortle

“Fairly niche” Stylist

“her lyrics were truly inspired” Bruce Dessau review of Funny Women Final 2016
