Nick and Simon Hancock perform a selection of the evergreen songs of Michael Flanders and Donald Swann, plus popular numbers from Tom Lehrer and Noel Coward.

The two brothers have been Flanders and Swann devotees for as long as they can remember, and have been performing their songs for many, many years. Nick has a vague recollection of being taken in about 1963 to see two old-seeming gentlemen in evening dress, with a grand piano and a standard lamp, performing at the Theatre Royal in Brighton – vague because eight-year-old Nick’s short sight was undiagnosed at the time. He yearned to perform like them, and was soon singing their songs in public. Simon too grew up listening to Flanders and Swann (naturally) and has spent his whole life gradually getting the jokes. He constantly aims to emulate Donald Swann’s effortless piano technique, but is hampered by having to put rather a lot of effort into it.
