The workshop takes place at the cornerHOUSE from Monday 4th April – Friday 8th April with a performance on the last day at 5.00 pm. This will be a fun week and a slight diversion from KJDC’s usual dramatic repertoire. A great opportunity for those who would like the chance to sing as well as act!

The course will be open to anyone who is aged 8 – 15 and will cost only £100 for the whole five days. At the equivalent of £20 a day it will be a bargain. The event is being endorsed by Kingston Arts. Places will be limited.

Working alongside David Lawson Lean, Artistic Director of KJDC, during the week will be Musical Director, Jane Marlow, with whom he has co-written a number of musicals for young people over the last fifteen years.

About Jane Marlow:

After graduating from The University of Hull with a Joint Honours Degree in Music and Drama, Jane gained the only place on the Musical Director course at LAMDA. Here, she obtained her Higher Education Diploma in Musical Direction, and for many years afterwards was a member of the music department teaching staff. As a singing teacher, her credits include Sylvia Young’s Theatre School, Goldsmiths University, Brooklands College, Theatre Studio West, Redroofs Theatre School, Laine Theatre Arts and Stagecoach Performing Arts. Many of her pupils have successfully auditioned for drama schools and professional productions. Jane has worked as a Musical Director at various theatres round the country, such as The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, Salisbury Playhouse, Harrogate Theatre, and The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, on pantomime, to Noel Coward, to Stephen Sondheim. Her most recent projects with Illyria Theatre Company have seen her arranging the scores of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Operettas for just 7 actors! Jane also works as a composer and lyricist.
