‘Life and Landscapes’ will be Sue Monteath‘s third solo exhibition at the cornerHOUSE. Paintings by the Surbiton-based artist will feature still life, bird life, local Surbiton street scenes, landscape and coastal scenes from around the UK.
Bird drawing during a week-long trip to Scotland with the Society of Wildlife Artists provided much of the material for sketches and paintings in the Exhibition. Speaking about the trip Sue explained :
“Painting amongst 150,000 nesting gannets on Bass Rock must count as one of the strangest but most incredible wildlife experiences! As were days spent on clifftops overlooking hundreds of nesting guillemots and razorbills with the occasional visit from a puffin. Mentoring by four professional artists who gave expert guidance on the trip was hugely inspirational. I’m pleased to have this chance to share those experiences with visitors to the exhibition.”
Having enjoyed Art during her school years, Sue’s real passion for painting emerged later when she started evening classes in life drawing and portrait art. Sue works mainly in oils but occasionally acrylics or watercolour and has undertaken a number of commissions.
Sue is a Fellow of the Molesey Art Society and she exhibits work regularly with the Molesey Art Society as well as at the Teddington Landmark Arts Fair.
The ‘Life and Landscapes’ exhibition runs from 4 March to 8 April.
