Magic show with Danny Buckler

Danny is a globe trotting comedian with a unique style which combines story telling with improvisation, wild flights of imagination and sleight of hand skills. He has taken three shows to The Edinburgh Festival (The Phantom 2012, Punch 2014 and Showman Shaman 2016) to great acclaim.

He has toured the UK as the support artist to stars such as Victoria Wood and most recently Jon Richardson, as well as opening for Bob Monkhouse.

He has appeared regularly on television as part of the team on the prime time Saturday night BBC 1 show ‘Secrets of Magic’, his on Ch4 comedy lab ‘Danny Does Tricks’ and the Ch4 documentaries ‘Jon Richardson: A Little Bit OCD’ and ‘Jon Richardson Grows Up’.

He is also the co – creator (along with producer Dan Wright) of the unique live event ‘Danny Buckler’s Magic Salon’, a combination of magic and chat show which has featured some of the biggest names from the world of magic including Ben Earl, Ben Hanlin and Paul Daniels.

This Is Your Trial

This Is Your Trial is the UK’s only court-room based interactive, improvised comedy, and won the Best Children and Families Show at the 2016 IYAF.

Top comedians play lawyers prosecuting and defending charges set against members of the audience.

Expect a unique comedy experience by some of the very best performers in the business. Each show is different and is shaped by you! Participation is part of the fun. Kids also get to discover what a trial is, how law works — albeit, by comedians — and they can put parents before the judge!

The format is simple:

There is a court room, a judge, a clerk and both prosecution and defence lawyers
Each role is played by a comedian
The audience fills in charge sheets to accuse friends attending court
The clerk collects the charge sheets before the show starts
You’re not obliged to fill in the charge sheets but it’s more fun if you do
Only 3 or 4 cases will be chosen to be tried

David Allison is a law graduate, writer, director and maker of films and TV.

He came up with the idea of trying to personalise a live comedy show after he was brought up on stage at the Queen’s Head in Camden by the MC, Sara Pascoe.

After testing out formats based on interactive quizzes he arrived at This Is Your Trial in 2012 when he borrowed a barrister’s wig and gave it to a quiz master in one of his shows.

Since then, there have been over 100 Trial shows.
